A pattern with every Chicago Bears signing

All of the Chicago Bears free agent signings have one important thing in common.

It is often said that if you want to win at anything in life, you need to surround yourself with winners. Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Poles understands this. It's become evident with his major free-agent signings.

The Bears were in cap space heaven this offseason with a league-leading $75.6 million in cap space, per Clutch Points. This gave them the freedom to overhaul their roster as they wished. And they weren't afraid to blow their money on several proven winners.

The Bears went all in. Their major free agent signings were linebacker T.J. Edwards, tight end Robert Tonyan, offensive guard Nate Davis and linebacker Tremaine Edmunds.

Edwards, a proud Lakes Community High School alum, was a disruptor on the NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles defense last season, racking up 159 tackles on their way to the Super Bowl.

While Tonyan played the first four years of his NFL career with the arch-rival Green Bay Packers, he's seen his fair share of January football. This will be valuable when the 2023 season begins. He also gives Bears quarterback Justin Fields a safety valve with reliable hands.

The Bears also snagged former Buffalo Bills linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, a mainstay on Bills head coach Sean McDermott's defense. The two-time Pro Bowler played lights out in McDermott's feared defense, anchoring them to four consecutive playoff trips.

Lastly, the Chicago Bears added an enforcer in the trenches by signing former Tennessee Titans offensive guard Nate Davis. The hard-nosed lineman paved the way for the Titans' smashmouth offense led by All-World running back Derrick Henry. After blocking for such a run-heavy offense, Davis brings a lunch-pale mentality to a Bears team that also loves running the ball.

These signings might seem like normal business in the NFL right now, but they will be worth every penny when we approach November and December football. In a seemingly wide-open NFC North, the Bears could be fighting for a playoff spot during the holiday season. And it's nice to have someone who's been there before. It makes the late-season push less daunting. These seasoned veterans will help the Bears compete and live up to the standard set by the Bears teams of the past.

None of this would've been possible without savvy cap space management by the Chicago Bears brass. They used this bundle of cash to build the team in their vision. Now we'll get to see how it works out this autumn.
